We Must Always Believe Horse Trainers!

Bob Baffert with Medina Spirit

Bob Baffert, the Hall of Fame trainer facing attack after his Kentucky Derby-winning horse tested positive for a banned substance, has defended himself during several media interviews amid an investigation.

I have seen Baffert maskless during one of the Triple Crown races last year, so he is my kind of guy. And from my perspective "must always be believed."

This is his perfectly reasonable explanation of how the horse, Medina Spirit, tested positive.

On “The Dan Patrick Show,” Baffert claimed that a groom urinated in the horse’s stall after he had been taking cough medicine and Medina Spirit ate some of the hay.

  1. A decent forensic investigation should be able to confirm this. Let's see what happens.

  2. Oh, sorry, I forgot that our forensic abilities as a nation have deteriorated since 9/10/2001.

  3. These days, it's just tough to believe that a positive test isn't definitive. When has it not been?

  4. Every time I'm eating horse hay that has been pissed on, I wonder if the horse's coke problem will get me high.
