An Apology to Drug Dealers

Libertarians are against drug laws but my apologies to you.

There is obviously a lot of confusion going on in libertarian ranks.

At the post, I Support Equity, Intersectional Hiring..., where I discuss being in favor of government hiring not being based on ability but rather extraneous factors such as gender, race, mental sexual identity disorder. etc., a number of commenters objected.

I really want the most incompetent people hired at the DEA, preferably real wacko intersectional nutjobs that will raise hell internally for all kinds of mad reasons. It will keep these incompetents busy and not hot on your trail.

For some reason, many commenters apparently want the DEA to hire competents who, in addition, won't cause wacky internal turmoil, and are more likely to think about clever ways to catch you and stay on the trail.

Notice, I am not talking about leadership setting broad policy but rank and file government hires.

I want them to be as incompetent as possible.

I have no idea why a libertarian would want efficient government.

  1. Maybe you'll find your beloved government incompetence in an air traffic controller on your next commercial flight.

    1. How do traffic controllers fall under government? Shallow thinking.

They are government captured sectors just like ambulance drivers. They both would exist in a free market unlike government agencies that only exist becasue the government exists.

    2. Shallow thinking? Air traffic controllers are employed by the FAA. That stands for FEDERAL Aviation Administration, dipshit. Like it or not, the federal government exists and isn't going anywhere soon, no matter how you stomp your feet and cry about it. So until that day comes, I hope you have incompetent affirmative action hires directing your planes.

      Read careful what I said.

    5. Even the private sector is rather pozzed these days, so this libertardian nonsense that the 'private sector' solves everything is a bit obtuse. I do like potable water from the tap and a working sewer system, so there is that.

I see the point the post is trying to make though. If the military gets enough pozzed trannies and duh-versity, I guess in theory it will hopefully be less dangerous to the standing citizens and maybe others.

    6. What's hilarious is that Wenzel would be the one kvetching the loudest when his home gets hit with a no knock raid because La'Qu'an Basketballescalade Jackson is functionally illiterate and got the address wrong on the warrant. He seems to love the idea of the goyim strung out on opioids until he has to step over them in the streets.

When was the last time government gave up its monopoly in some sector because it hired nothing but incompetent people?

I can't think of an example. People try to work around the monopoly to avoid the incompetence and the government uses violence and new laws and violence to stop them from doing so much of the time. Eventually an entire sector may be rendered obsolete or abandoned to get away from the incompetent government employees.

Maybe the airlines get fed up and develop a whole new method of air traffic control that doesn't need government air traffic controllers but the FAA promptly makes it illegal or the incompetent people in government simply refuse or can't do what is necessary on the ground for it to work properly.

Maybe someone invents star trek transporters to get around an incompetent FAA. Maybe. But that only starts the cycle again with a newly created government agency hiring incompetent people.

    8. Where does anybody say anything about the government giving up?

The claim is apparently that government hiring incompetents will allow the people to operate freely, that it will effectively lose or give up its monopoly because it won't be capable of doing the tasks or enforcing the monopoly. I can't think of one example where government incompetence led to that end. The best is idiocy like the 55mph NMSL where it could only pick and choose who to enforce upon. That's about as good as it could ever get.

    10. PH, you made a good point, but your name calling detracts from it.

  2. Who cares?
This is what weak libertarians spend their time doing? Arguing over philosophical trivialities, that have a literal 0% chance of affecting libertarian change? No wonder it is a failed pholosophy.

    These are our thought leaders?

Walter block the abortionist moron, who can't figure out that abortion is inconceivably evil, woods and his covid chart campaign for change (i wonder how that is going), and rw arguing over this imbecility.

    It is unbelievable

    1. Libertardians are obsessed with transwierdo rights, drug addled pavement apes that die by their own hand, and open borders of those wonderful non whites who are always carrying a copy of 'Atlas Shrugged' or 'The Road to Sefdom' while wearing a 'Who is John Galt?' t-shirt.

  3. Who cares?

So in other words you have no understanding of Hayek's observation of how ideas disseminate to the masses.

  4. Huh?

Debating gov hiring manager decisions - something which you do not, cannot, and will never control - will influence the masses?
The whole idea is preposterous, why would anyone waste their time with it, why are you wanting to talk about it? To prove some pointless intellectual point?

I’m going to change the libertarian motto from “Always weakness, all the time” to “We argue vociferously, endlessly, only about things that don’t matter.”

Government is an institution. It rewards institutional competence not technical competence.

As such when you hire incompetents that believe CO2 is pollution, that believe that government should control what you put in your body, and so on you don't get an organization that can't operate, you get one that is far more weaponized against ordinary people.

Sure it's operation may be negatively affected but the result isn't any better for regular people, it's worse. Now you have true believers, not people simply lying for their own power. True believers will go after anyone and anything. Those wanting power see little or no benefit in taking on anything but serious threats and expanding their power. You or I are for the most part not something the competent sell the big lie for gain types will bother with but the true believers need to stomp out every little thing that doesn't agree with them.

There's a big difference between someone pushing a big lie for personal (and institutional) benefit and an incompetent that believes the lie and wants to make sure nobody goes against it using institutional power.

    1. So you want competent true believers?

What I want? No government intrusion of any kind. However, don't you remember the famous quote?

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

      ― C. S. Lewis

If the choice is believers or crooks I choose crooks. Better yet incompetent crooks, but that's not what woke ideology is going to give us, it will give us incompetent religious zealots. Those are worse than even competent crooks.
