BREAKING: Rand Paul Has Tested Positive for COVID-19

This is a developing story. Return to this post for updates.

UPDATE

From Rand Paul's spokesman:
Senator Rand Paul has tested positive for COVID-19. He is feeling fine and is in quarantine. He is asymptomatic and was tested out of an abundance of caution due to his extensive travel and events. He was not aware of any direct contact with any infected person. He expects to be back in the Senate after his quarantine period ends and will continue to work for the people of Kentucky at this difficult time. Ten days ago, our D.C. office began operating remotely, hence virtually no staff has had contact with Senator Paul.

  1. So, Rand Paul slows the “relief” package in the senate, his father has been speaking up against the government response also, and now Rand is sick and has to quarantine at home for 2 weeks. Hmmm. Is Massey the next one to get sick?
Don’t take this wrong, but it’s almost a good thing for Rand to get the virus, as he can tell us the truth behind how bad it really is or isn’t. And he will be able to speak with even more authority since he has contracted the virus, or at least someone told him he has, and he’s a doctor.
Stay safe Rand! Get on media and share your opinion and experience.

    1. Josh, I was almost pissed at you, then read the rest. Yep, it'll be great to get a view from the front.

  3. I would post some armed guards around his home ASAP before he has a "sudden turn for the worse" and turns up on the dead list count.

That sounds pretty conspiratorial, but we are living in insane times and ruled by dictatorial fanatics.

I would feel better if Rand did some live feed video from his home if just to say "Hi" so we know he actually is alive.

  4. Wishing he well, of course ...

However, he is another example that COVID-19 is not a death sentence, not even close.

It's amazing the narrative doesn't changed, other than the doubling down. When will folks realize the panic is manufactured.

  5. As I recall, he had some lung damage and respiratory issues following the attack on him that broke 8 ribs or so. Surviving this could be more challenging than otherwise...

  6. The surreality of all of this has gone to 11. The only other info about Rand I've seen is some gossipy hysteria over at AJ's site about another Senator (Sinema/AZ) tweeting about Rand's "irresponsibility." I'd like to hear Ron Paul's take on this. So far, radio silence. Lew's site quiet as well. The timing raises a lot of questions vis a vis votes on the massive stimulus bill and other potential Congressional actions in the offing re: civil liberties. Apparently Lee and Romney "self-isolating" as well and no vote (unless Senate rules changed.) Maybe Rand & others are playing some kind of 5D chess. Hope he's ok... for real.
