Murray Rothbard |
...and that is probably a good thing.
Jennifer Burns is an associate professor in the Department of History at Stanford University. She is the author of Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right and is currently writing a biography of Milton Friedman.
She was the keynote speaker during lunch at the "Strategies For Monetary Policy: A Policy Conference."
After her speech, I caught up with her to ask her if she was aware that there was an FBI file on Friedman. She was not. I told her I obtained it and she gave me her business card so that I could email the file to her.
I did that on Saturday but have not yet received any response.
While talking to her, I said that she should write a Murray Rothbard biography. She let out a long laugh and said, "I don't like Rothbard."
I responded, "I'm surprised. It seemed to me in your Rand book that you were heavily influenced by the Rothbard's position on Rand."
She then said, "The Rothbardians hated Rand."
I said, "I know."
She then said, "Rothbard was a racist."
I said, "I don't think that is true."
There was a crowd now gathering and she took a question from someone else, so I didn't get a chance to make my full defense of Rothbard case but I will email her a link to this post.
