The United States continues to increase pressure on Iran.
Ideally, Iran would just like to wait things out and see if President Trump is reelected next year. But the increased U.S. pressure is making it difficult for Iran to sit quietly by.
The announcement by Iran, that it will no longer comply with parts of the 2015 agreement to curb its nuclear program, accomplishes two things for Iran.
1. Iran is giving other signatories of the deal sixty days to prove they can protect Iran’s oil and banking sectors from U.S. sanctions.
And 2:
Meanwhile, in the United States neocons appear to be in control with their belligerent ways:Adding one more thing here: Judging by reactions on #Iran's hardline social media accounts, the steps announced have fulfilled one objective (at least for now): Making the government look like it's not just sitting on its hands and flexing its muscles at home--appeasing critics.— Ariane Tabatabai (@ArianeTabatabai) May 8, 2019
