Cherokee Nation On War Path After Elizabeth Warren Claims DNA Shows She May Be 1/1024 Indian

UPDATE below: What would Nazis say?

Earlier today, Senator Elizabeth Warren released her DNA test results to the Boston Globe. The results indicate she may be anywhere from 1/64 to 1/1024 American Indian.

Warren has claimed she is part Cherokee, which has been questioned by President Trump and others. No doubt she wants to clear things up before the 2020 presidential election season where she is considered a front-runner. But here is her new problem/

The Cherokee Nation has issued a blistering statement regarding Warren's DNA claim:
"A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America," Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. "Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."

It also turns out that to make up for the dearth of American Indian DNA, the DNA analyst used by Warren compared her sample with those of samples from Mexico, Peru, and Colombia to stand in for American Indians. (American Indians are reluctant to give samples)

In other words, Warren’s DNA  may indicate that she is 1/64 to 1/1024 Mexican, Peruvian, or Colombian, rather than American Indian.

    1. There's a Trail Of Tears joke here somewhere, but it's probably insensitive.

  4. Nearly all black folks in America have more European/white DNA than Warren has Indian DNA.

  5. Notwithstanding her failed #MeSioux attempt, she still has her original tribe of savages to belong to: The Democrat Tribe.

  6. Tom DiLorenzo at LRC Blog: Like all other American socialists today [Warren] believe[s] that character, behavior, and merit are nothing compared to being associated with one of the Left’s Official Victim Groups.

Michael Rozeff at LRC Blog: Warren cannot even claim that her tiny Native American ancestry is anything special or exceptional. If we chose a random sample of Americans of European ancestry, we would find the same result as long as the sample was large enough to reduce sampling error.
