I have a great allergy to economic things, because my father was an accountant and when he did not manage to finish his work at the factory, he brought the work home on Saturday and Sunday, with those books in those day where the titles were written in gothic. When I saw my father I had a great allergy and I didn’t understand it very well.

“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a ‘dismal science.’ But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.”

That exact quote was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this.
DeleteDoes he like break out in hives, or something? My Dad worked a lot of weekends. Sometimes he'd take me to work with him on Saturdays. That was the most Dad-like thing he ever did. I cherish those memories. So this guy never got that his old man was working weekends to be a better provider, a better "Father" if you will. I'm thinkin' the Pope is a slacker.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the Pope is a douchebag. Such respect for the person who busted his ass to feed the brat.
DeleteWhat bothers me most about Popenomics is that he has lived his entire life off the excess production and generosity of others. He has no understanding that wealth must first be produced before it can be consumed or donated to charity, including the Catholic Church. He seems to believe that wealth is the normal state of mankind (rather than poverty) and that any wealth disparities is due to unfairness or oppression rather than productivity and market value.
ReplyDeleteThe Catholic church does not operate on "charity." It is holder of some of the most valuable property in the world, and has investments going back centuries. It is not "for profit" in any sense, but doesn't in any way depend on the collection plates to keep Vatican city clean.
DeleteGreat. If the Catholic Church has vast sums of wealth from investments and properties and if the Pope is truly concerned about the plight of the poor and is against wealth disparities the the RC Church should liquidate its assets and give the proceeds to the poor.
