Rand Paul accepted the assignment of destroying his father's non-interventionist beliefs within the Republican party, and within the ranks of Libertarian minded voters when he hired Trygve Olsen for his 2010 campaign. I have been adamant on this point from day one, and I frankly have given up on trying to persuade people with the mounds of evidence against Rand Paul.
The upcoming Ron Paul documentary that Charles Goyette is involved with, is a total waste of time because the Ron Paul movement was long ago laid in it's grave by Rand Paul. With today's announcement by Rand Paul that he opposes the Iran nuclear negotiations final agreement, he has shoveled fresh dirt on his father's non-interventionists beliefs, and consigned them to the seven circles of political hell.
The collusion between Barack Obama and the Republican party to assure that the June 10th deadline set by the Republicans would pass without a deal should scream to everyone that war is coming. Now here is a thought, September 11th falls on a new moon this year. At some point in the next year Iran will be glowing with a heavenly light so the Christian Right of the Republican party can have a weenie roast, and Rand Paul can't wait.
This is why Donald Trump is good for the liberty movement - he draws attention away from Rand. I hope Rand's poll numbers are so low that he can't meet the debate threshold. I also hope he loses his Kentucky senate race and just goes away.
Switchblade, your contention war is coming due to one of many deadlines being missed makes no sense to me. A deal was passed today with great fanfare. The Congress cannot do anything as 5 other countries signed the agreement too. Even if the United States maintained sanctions do you really think the Russians will considering how at odds they already are with Washington? It actually looks like the Neocons have been beaten for a change. They are relentless of course so Obama will have to be careful not to let them find a way to undermine the deal. They will certainly try. I think his concerns with his legacy will help motivate him to stop the Neocons on this issue. The military seems to be behind Obama too as they do not want war in Iran.
As far as Rand Paul goes, history will record his role from 2012 to 2015 was indeed to destroy the liberty movement his father helped spawn. Fortunately the history of 2015 to the future has not been written yet. Rand Paul might be a sell out loser but there are plenty of other Americans who still yearn for liberty waiting in the wings. Heck, maybe Rand Paul will get religion once everyone abandons him. I don't share your sinister attitude toward the Pauls. Ron is a good man and Rand is just mislead and arrogant. In any case, today was a great victory for peace over war. It proved the Neocons can be beaten and that there is hope.
