From a NyPo editorial:
John Tucker was still plaguing Manhattan’s West Side on Monday, two days after The Post used its front page to display the vagrant’s blight-inviting behavior. Yet Mayor Bill de Blasio insists he’s got everything under control.
The Post, he insists, “is well-known for fear-mongering.” There you go: Whom are you going to believe, him or your lying eyes?
At least two hospitals have deemed Tucker mentally fit to roam the city’s streets — and cops apparently are under orders not to jail him for his repeated quality-of-life violations.
No word on why the Health Department isn’t doing something about the dangers posed by a man who uses streets, sidewalks and synagogue steps as his personal toilet.
As for the mayor: A panhandler who goes by “Brown” on Monday told The Post that life has definitely gotten easier under de Blasio. “Things have improved,” the 50-year-old said. “Cops are nicer. They let us be more.”
And a homeless man who hangs out near Bellevue Hospital said, “I want to thank de Blasio for taking it easier on us.”
