Rand Paul Warns Media: ‘Better not’ take shots at my wife

The Boston Herald reports:
U.S. Sen. Rand Paul has a message for journalists who may want to take shots at his wife, Kelley Paul, during his run for the White House: “They better not.”

“She really doesn’t want to engage in the mud wrestling of politics, she wants to talk about her book and the stories of her family and interactions that she’s had with women and the women who have influenced her life and she’s excited to do that,” the Kentucky Republican said this morning during an appearance on Boston Herald Radio’s “Morning Meeting” program. “If anybody wants to be mean to her, though, they’ll have to answer to me.”

Which is fine. I have mentioned Kelley only three times here at Target Liberty. All three times were in response to mainstream media news stories about Kelley.

Once when she attended, with Rand, a Rand Paul event co-sponsored by a Council on Foreign Relations member.

Once when she announced her book tour. And, finally, a mention when Kelley was the subject of a major WaPo profile.

And all three times I reported facts but did not go beyond that.

My thinking has always been that Rand is running for president not Kelley. I am not going to go out of my way to cover Kelley, but I am not going to ignore a story that has already been published somewhere else.

Keeping that in mind, it probably makes sense for Rand to stop with the warnings, since as far as I know, no one has focused on her. The warnings only bring focus on her.

I note for example that Rand delivered his warning via the Boston Herald, which is simultaneously running this YouTube interview with Kelley.

This does not sound like Kelley, as Rand would put it, talking "about her book and the stories of her family and interactions that she’s had with women and the women who have influenced her life."

It sure looks to me as though she is stumping for Rand, since there are Rand banners all over the location of the interview and she is talking about why Rand would make a good president.

In other words. Rand wants to have it both ways, he wants to have Kelley out on the campaign trail for him, but pretend that she is just promoting her book.

That said, I have no plans to go "take shots" at Kelley. I know when I am outmatched. And besides, Rand makes a better target because he is far less articulate and provides me with plenty of material on his own on a daily basis.

  1. Rand Paul is building a straw man so he can look effective in protecting Kelley's honor because his grasp of logic, and his ability to lucidly debate a subject are extremely limited, especially when facing off with a woman.

  2. I got a question which I asked last month when Rand's creepy, pervert employee , head of Pauls NH campaign, slathered his saliva all over a reporters camera. What would rand or his security team do if that same pervert, or a similar one, did the same to one of rand pauls wifes' books at one of her book signing events? theyd probably be in prison where rand and his pervert degenerate sidekick belong, for assault,.

I for one hope that people have more respect for Kelley paul than rands low-grade employees do for members of the public and the press. these people are disgusting.
