Raud Paul Event to be Co-Sponsored by Council on Foreign Relations Member

Rand Paul and his wife, Kelley, will attend a major fundraiser for his “Rand Paul Victory Committee” in Charleston, S.C. next month, following the announcement that he is going to seek the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

The event is being hosted by, among others, Mallory Factor--a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Factor recently served as Vice-Chair of the Council on Foreign Relations Task Force on Terrorism Financing.

This was one of Mallory's recommendations in 2004 testimony before the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs.
[W]e suggest that the U.S. government increase sharing of information with the financial services sector as permitted by Section 314 of the USA PATRIOT ACT so that this sector can cooperate more effectively with the U.S. government in identifying incidences of terror financing. International financial institutions subject to U.S. jurisdiction are among our best sources of raw financial intelligence to identify terror financing, but these institutions need to be given appropriate information from the U.S. government on what to look for.

His book, The Big Tent:  The Story of the Conservative Revolution—as Told by the Thinkers and Doers Who Made It Happen, includes essays by, in addition to Rand, Douglas Feith and Donald Rumsfeld. Perhaps the book (and Rand's new policy perspective) should be called The Big Bunker.
