A politician sentenced to jail is always a wonderful thing--even if it is only house arrest.
A French court has sentenced former President Nicolas Sarkozy to three years in prison for corruption and influence peddling, but suspended two years of the sentence.
The judge said Sarkozy did not need to serve time in jail. He could serve the sentence by wearing an electronic bracelet at home. Prison, with a cellmate named the French equivalent of "Bubba," of course, would have been better.
He was president from 2007 to 2012.
