About That Company Where Prince Harry Just Took a Job

Prince Harry will become "chief impact officer" at a Silicon Valley start-up, BetterUp Inc, the company has announced.

It is a coaching and mental health firm.

“I intend to help create impact in people’s lives,” Harry said in an emailed response to questions from The Wall Street Journal about why he’s taking the job. “Proactive coaching provides endless possibilities for personal development, increased awareness, and an all-round better life.”

“It’s a meaningful and meaty role,” said BetterUp CEO Alexi Robichaux.

So what is the perspective of the firm?

BetterUp co-founder and COO, Eduardo Medina, according to the company's website, says he is "a strong advocate for education, economic access, and equity in the workplace, areas where he actively mentors and advises emerging leaders."

And the firm has a diversity and inclusion program for its clients:

Workplace cultures strong in diversity, inclusion, and belonging have been linked to increased organizational productivity. BetterUp integrates evidence-based methods with scalable coaching strategies and robust analytics to transform your culture from the core of your organization — your people. We deliver holistic, personalized experiences that create meaningful change and support internal, personal growth.

It tells firms:

Broaden the diversity of your leadership by offering additional support to members of historically underserved/underrepresented groups. Providing your people with personal coaching ensures a safe place for them to explore challenging and sensitive topics.

Wonderful, a woke firm, something Harry will be able to talk over in the evenings with his oppressed wife.

The company has raised a total of $269.8 million in funding over 5 rounds (Thank you, Jay Powell).

  1. According to his wife, he did not help her during her crisis while they were in England - as she said, NO one helped her. Yet he would have us believe that he can "help create impact" (adults didn't used to talk like that) that will enable his clients to have an "all-round better life". Reminds one of the cobbler's children going barefoot.
Taking the media event of a couple of weeks ago at face value, it was simply an ad for the new position and new company. Getting Harry back in the spotlight and then waiting the 2-3 weeks that is the attention span of most people start to promote himself and Team Meghan.

Speaking of increased awareness, have you considered the level of demand there might be for coaching by a person who married the sort of woman you did, and destroyed his own family relationships?

People tend not to go looking an "impact in their lives" that leaves their wallets thinner and their souls fractured.
