How confused of a mind can you have?
The socialist congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is putting out a stream of tweets that show the horrific scenes of how undocumented immigrants are being kept in the United States.
A sampler:

Except there was just one, and the sink portion was not functioning - @AyannaPressley smartly tried to open the faucet, and nothing came out.

But when she is not tweeting about these type of conditions, she is tweeting for the advocacy of a type of system, socialism, that has brought much worse.
According to R.J. Rummel in Death by Government: Genocide and Mass Murder Since 1900, it is estimated that under the Soviet Union more than 60 million were killed by that socialist regime.
Here is a picture of a mass grave that has been dug up of people (11,000), in Ukraine in the town of Vinnytsia, who were executed under Stalin's rule by the Soviet secret police :

Then, of course, there was Germany's National SOCIALIST German Workers' Party, where Rummel estimates that more than 20 million were killed.
So while she sees the dangers of a central power when it comes to migrants, it appears she has no understanding of history and how the stronger the central government the more death and more misery occurs.
She is fighting early-stage central planning when it comes to migrants but calls for more powerful central planning in other sectors that could lead to much worse.
Can she not see the problem is central planning? Has she really thought all this out? Could it possibly be she really understands and does not care, that her agenda is focused on her gaining the power?

She finally found something she likes. I'm sure she is making her parents proud.
ReplyDeleteThere's no question in my mind that Ms. Ocasio's politics are based on wrong and dangerous ideas, based on the peddling of petty envies and jealousies. But I am also appalled by the seriously inhumane actions pursued by orange peel man against defenseless human beings whose children are snatched away by a bloated Leviathan that shows no concern for the gross ethical and moral impropriety of its actions.

ReplyDeleteRobert, maybe I missed it, or maybe I just need to read your book, but could you at some time explain why I should be free to forcibly remove vagrants who have erected a tent on my front lawn but a nation does not have the right to forcibly evict trespassers from its territory? That position seems a little logically inconsistent. I look forward to simply understanding.

DeleteTo the contrary, this position is entirely consistent with the libertarian theory of private-property rights based on the NAP.
Through three different non-coercive means (homesteading, consensual transfer, and restitutionary transfer), any individual can come to legitimately own land and, as the legitimate owner, can set the rules for who can come on the property and who cannot.
On the other hand, when a nation is run by a state, according to libertarian property-rights theory the nation can never legitimately come to own land -- because its only means of acquiring land involve coercion -- and thus can never legitimately set the rules about who can come on and who cannot.
If you reject libertarian property-rights theory, then to be consistent you would have to believe that anyone can take land using violence and set the rules. That might get you to where you want for the purposes of immigration restrictions, but it also means that any of your neighbors (or anyone else) would be entitled to use force to take your land.
@Sam, the tsunami of migrants flooding in are very comfortable with big, authoritarian government. There is no future for Libertarianism. In five years this discussion will be pointless.

DeleteI would venture to say she does not care about these people further than how they can forward her agenda, and I guarantee her agenda is more important to her than a person is, and much more so than a group of people are.
ReplyDeleteActually it is more than an agenda to her, an agenda is something you set out to do, socialism is the way she philosophically looks at life, a true believer. More dangerous than just an agenda driven socialist.
And as we have seen through history, true believer Commies are good at using people to the point when they no longer are useful, then killing them.
Being an advocate for socialism Sandy must be confused by the concept of immigration. If memory serves the wall in Berlin was for a different purpose then what the Donald has in mind for his wall.
ReplyDeleteSplit brain or hair brain, Cortez is a grandstanding politician. I would bet that she is happily ignorant of some of the more unflattering facts about socialism. Anyway she is a “Democratic Socialist”. She can point to the Nordic states which have little to no budget deficits and high standard of living while keeping other facts about these countries out of her conversation.
Congress just spent another $5 billion on these people. Send these welfare leeches home. The invaders and Congress.

They come from a failed society with a failed government, yet libertardians want to import more human debris. The whole child separation which was designed to keep them from coming has now resulted in a black market for children and a great many are not even related.
