See, it is not only libertarians who split into factions, some being more hardcore than others.
The World Socialist Web Site published by the International Committee of the Fourth International has just published a fierce attack on Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
They write:
On November 7, the Democratic Socialists of America’s National Political Committee published a statement celebrating the US midterm elections as a victory for the “left.” The statement begins: “Yesterday democratic socialists fought and won inspiring election campaigns across the country, representing the rebirth of the American socialist movement after generations in retreat.”...The hardcore WSWS has a point. Ocasio-Cortez is a sellout commie. She will do whatever it takes to get attention and there is no way she is going to be radical on tough issues. This babe will pay attention to which way the wind is blowing and only take "extreme" lefty positions when it will gain her positive support from the establishment lefty media.
At the top of the list is DSA member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the newly elected congresswoman from New York. After winning the primary, in which she buried her affiliation with the DSA, she moved quickly to dissociate herself not only from socialism, but from anything smacking of opposition to militarism, Zionism or the persecution of immigrants.
Within days of her primary victory, she disavowed all “isms,” repudiated previous criticisms of Israel, pledged her support for “border security,” and stood beside Bernie Sanders, nodding in agreement, as the Vermont senator endorsed the Democrats’ anti-Russia campaign. A few weeks later she joined the sickening chorus of praise for Senator John McCain, following the death of the reactionary war-monger.
The hardcore stuff, which true libertarians can align with WSWS on, such as on opposition to militarism, US meddling in favor of Zionism or the persecution of immigrants, Ocasio-Cortez isn't going to go near.

ReplyDeleteThose are the same folks that warned back in March about the CIA Democrats like Elissa Slotkin. Running for Congress in the Detroit suburbs, her ads ran day and night focusing almost solely upon her mom's cancer and pre-existing conditions. She beat two-term Republican Representative Mike Bishop whose slightly less constant ads warned us that she and Obama gave Iran billions of dollars, that she supported the dangerous nuclear deal and that Iran is the world's biggest state sponsor of terrorism.
