Chris Cantwell Pleads Guilty; Barred From Virginia For Five Years

Self-professed white nationalist Christopher Cantwell, who was arrested last August in Charlottesville after the “Unite the Right” rally, on Friday pleaded guilty to assault and battery according to prosecutors, the Washington Post reports.

Cantwell at one time claimed he was a libertarian but appears to have moved in quite a different direction.

The melee that occurred in Charlottesville last August between, for the most part, white nationalists and Antifa, saw much pushing and shoving and minor more aggressive attacks (in addition to the neo-Nazi who over that weekend used his car as a lethal weapon, killing a woman and injuring 35 other people).

Specifically,  Cantwell pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and battery stemming from his dispersal of pepper spray. Got that? Using pepper spray got him in the slammer. The authorities don't like Cantwell in  Charlottesville.

On Friday, he was sentenced to two concurrent terms of 12 months, with all but seven months suspended, freeing him from detention. (He was held in prison before trial after his arrest for seven months).

As part of his sentence, he was also required to leave Virginia within eight hours and not return for five years.

  1. Cantwell is a good writer. It is too bad he can't get his personal demons together.

    1. Why am I not surprised that you're a fan of Cantwell?

  2. I didn't even know banishment or exile from a State (or any jurisdiction within the U.S.A) are even used, or are even valid or legal punishments anymore.
I would appeal that Medieval punishment, and probably get it overturned.

  3. Overall, I like Cantwell. Too bad the got screwed here but at least he did not get jail time. He does have the right to self defense.

I know the anti-white crowd would prefer to live with the ghetto Antifa blacks and have their wives and daughters gang banged by them on a daily basis. But hey, at least you won't be a 'da rasis'.

  4. Misdemeanors only from the sound of it. If so, he can still own a gun.

  5. It seems to me that the only reason the authorities agreed to this deal is because of the likelihood of an acquittal. If they could have locked him up for 15 years, they would have done so.

    1. Bingo!

      And @Robert Wenzel,

Sensationalizing the tragedy re: the death and pain of the people hit by the driver of the car is not helpful, imho, as I'm confident the circumstances of that event were/are more nuanced than you make it seem.

    1. LOL, don't worry. You lolbertarians look more like non binary NEETs than white nationalists.

    2. Cantwell has seen the failure of libertardianism, so he changed course. However, morons like you still believe 'all cultures are equal' and that a few million Muslim Somalis or Afghan goat humpers would be able to form a libertarian society.

    3. I think he is just an unstable fringe kind of character. Not a shortage of them amongst libertarians or the alt right.

He didn't see anything. White supremacists are not known for espousing individualism and human-centered philosophies. Your contention that Cantwell had some sort of epiphany is ludicrous.
