NY Lawmakers Demand Release of Pizza Guy Facing Deportation

Pablo Villavicencio with his daughters
Two New York congresswomen demanded Friday that the feds immediately release the pizza delivery guy who’s fighting deportation after getting detained at a Brooklyn military base as an illegal immigrant, reports the New York Post'

Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-Brooklyn) tweeted part of a letter to Immigration and Customs Enforcement in which she and Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-LI) said Pablo Villavicencio was nabbed “while simply trying to do his job.”

“Mr. Villavicencio is dedicated to his wife, Sandra and their two young daughters — all of whom are U.S. citizens,” the letter says.

“He should be allowed to return home to Long Island so that he can continue providing for his family.”

Velazquez tweeted: “His arrest was unwarranted and immoral!”

Also Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo urged the Department of Homeland Security to launch an internal investigation into what he called “the disgraceful and, in many cases, illegal tactics used by ICE.”

Cuomo cited both the June 1 arrest of Villavicencio and the April 18 handcuffing of an upstate farm owner, John Collins, who intervened when agents entered his property without a warrant to arrest one of his workers.

“These are just two of the countless cases that have spread fear among immigrant communities across our state and shocked the conscience of all New Yorkers,” Cuomo wrote.

  1. What illegal tactics? You mean like the gun control laws NY passes all the time?
