Our unfortunate and brutal history of waging regime change wars has failed. Interventions in Iraq and Libya caused death, destruction, and human suffering. We have neglected our own communities. Military action should be the last resort, not our first.

The people of Syria want peace more than anything in the world. Dropping bombs on Syria will not bring their war-torn country any closer to peace. It will escalate and prolong the war, resulting in more senseless death, destruction, suffering, and refugees.— Tulsi Gabbard (@TulsiGabbard) April 12, 2018
By launching a U.S. military attack against Syria, terrorist groups like al-Qaeda, ISIS, Jaysh al-Islam, etc, will be reinvigorated & resurrected in their quest to topple the government & establish a caliphate. This creates a greater threat to America & hell for the Syrian people— Tulsi Gabbard (@TulsiGabbard) April 12, 2018
-ROBERT WENZELBottom line: If our desire is for peace and stability in Syria so that refugees can return home & they can begin to rebuild their homes and lives, then we should work for peace rather than expanding and escalating the war thru a U.S. military attack against Syria. #peaceforsyria— Tulsi Gabbard (@TulsiGabbard) April 12, 2018
It’s kind of depressing how rare these common-sense views appear to be, especially among the political establishment.
ReplyDeleteRare indeed though I am more surprised she hasnt gotten the "talking to," like most politicians that dont agree with the real power in the white house which is the military complex.
DeleteShe seems consistently determined to point out when the US govt is being a fool.
Neo-cons and Democrats: "Assad can't just go around killing 'his own' people like that! In response, we need to start a war and kill more of his own people!"
ReplyDelete(You see, governments can kill OTHER countries' people day in and day out---witness Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dresden, My Lai, and so on---but NOT their own).
