Less than 24 hours after the death of former First Lady Barbara Bush, Seattle socialist councilwoman Kshama Sawant blasted this tweet sent out by theWomen’s March official Twitter account.
Sawant's response is mostly on target here. Barbara Bush was the evil behind the evil.Rest in peace and power, Barbara Bush. pic.twitter.com/GI8eIYd8A6— Women's March (@womensmarch) April 18, 2018
But there is truth in the @womensmarch tweet also. Barbara Bush was about power. It's just that @womensmarch doesn't get that government power is evil. In other words, championing Bush's power tells us more about @womensmarch than it does anything else. They admire political power. This is terrible. @womensmarch organizers have helped lead historic protests since Trump's election but this tweet shows how, without a political compass, even well-meaning progressives can end up giving cover to ruling class & ultimately undermining struggles against oppression. pic.twitter.com/AS3jzE7l1Y— Kshama Sawant (@cmkshama) April 18, 2018
Sawant at least gets that lady Bush is not the kind of power person she wants in charge. She, of course, wants it reserved for her socialist team.
She gets Ludwig von Mises on this point:
The worst thing that can happen to a socialist is to have his country ruled by socialists who are not his friends.-Robert Wenzel
" The worst thing that can happen to a socialist is to have his country ruled by socialists who are not his friends."
ReplyDeleteThe Soviet Union was a running commentary on that point.
"...even well-meaning progressives can end up giving cover to ruling class & ultimately undermining struggles against oppression"
Sawant and her savvy progressives, once in power, will not oppress
but will "reeducate" the innocent and mete out "justice" to the "oppressors".

ReplyDeleteThat's how Hitlery's supporters must feel right now, knowing the wrong socialist is in power.
The same fate will fall on Trumpistas next time, as populism has also a left side.
When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness. - Proverbs 11:10
ReplyDeleteI am going with the shouts on this one
