Justin Amash to Trump: "Bring It On!"

4 comments:

  1. The Republican establishment tried to unseat Amash in 2014 by running a veteran against him who relentlessly tried to tie him with al Qaeda. It didn't work and neither will these latest attacks. Unlike Rand, Amash does not pull punches.

  2. Born in Grand Rapids, and raised in Kentwood, Michigan, Amash is a second-generation Arab-American of Palestinian Christian and Syrian Greek Orthodox descent.[14] His father, Attallah, is a Palestinian business owner, whose family emigrated to the United States in 1956[15] through the sponsorship of a Christian pastor and his family. His mother, Mimi, is a Syrian immigrant to the United States.[16][17]

Amash attended Kelloggsville Christian School in Kelloggsville and graduated as class valedictorian from Grand Rapids Christian High School. He graduated from the University of Michigan magna cum laude with a B.A. in economics and earned his J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School in 2005.[17] Amash admires economists F. A. Hayek and Frédéric Bastiat.[18]

Amash is married and the father of three children. He belongs to the Greek Orthodox Church of Antioch.[19]

After graduating from the University of Michigan, he became a consultant to his family's tool business. He worked as a corporate attorney for his family's business for a year, before being elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in 2008.

  3. Western Michigan is the land of your great grandfather's Calvinist Dutch (as opposed to today's "progressive" Netherlands). I was babysitting my granddaughter in Western Michigan in January and WOOD Channel 8 broadcast the Betsy Devos (Dutch) hearings live instead of Oprah and Ellen. For lack of a better term, those people are straight and square, as opposed to wild and crazy multi-ethnic Detroit.

    1. If he belongs to the Orthodox Church, he shouldn't have any moral qualms against drinking :).
