Russia’s Foreign Ministry is advising Russian President Putin expel 35 U.S. diplomats in response to President Obama’s sanctions over the country’s alleged use of cyberattacks to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.
“We cannot leave such acts unanswered. Reciprocity is part of diplomatic law,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a statement on the ministry’s website.
Lavrov said the foreign ministry had proposed that these measures be approved by President Vladimir Putin, which is expected to happen shortly.
