Candidate for Libertarian Party Presidential Nomination Found Dead.

Marc A. Feldman, a Cleveland Clinic doctor who recently lost a bid for the Libertarian Party's nomination for president, was found dead Wednesday in a Brook Park, Ohio motel, Cleveland.com reports.

Feldman, 56, of Beachwood, Ohio was found at the America's Best Value Inn in the 14000 block of Brookpark Road. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has not released an official cause of death.

Feldman was the section head of anesthesia for the Cole Eye Institute and director of the Cole Eye Institute Operating Rooms at the Cleveland Clinic, according to the clinic's website.

A hotel employee called police at 7:17 p.m after a woman called the front desk from Feldman's room and said he was unresponsive, Brook Park police Capt. Thomas Dickel said.

Feldman was not breathing when first responders arrived minutes later. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

By all accounts, he was a sound principled libertarian and would have been a major improvment over the eventual 2016 Libertarian Party nominee, Gary, "Free the Weed" Johnson.

  2. A terrible tragedy. I knew Marc and trained under his tutelage some years ago. I was delighted that he chose to stand up for Liberty and enter the national spotlight. He was not only highly intelligent, but diverse in interests, and was very kind to me and many colleagues who have confirmed this fact to me.
Regardless of the circumstances, I feel his loss deeply and mourn with and for his family in this tragedy.
I am grateful on a personal note that it is not being spun by any particular political faction for gain (firearms, immigration, War on Terror, etc.) which would have offended his libertarian sensibilities and deepened the misfortune of all.

  3. Was this a tryst extramarital or otherwise?
    Now that's Libertarian!

  4. No information was addressing that topic in the articles I've seen. There has been only speculation. If so, it was certainly out of character for him. We may never know the specifics, and the knowing would likely not make the tragedy less.
