Thomas Sowell Endorses Ted Cruz

One war hawk endorses another war hawk:
Senator Ted Cruz has been criticized in this column before, and will undoubtedly be criticized here again. But we can only make our choices among those actually available, and Senator Cruz is the one who comes to mind when depth and steadfastness come to mind.
As someone who once clerked for a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, he will know how important choosing Justice Scalia's replacement will be. And he has the intellect to understand much more.

And that is setting aside Cruz's call for a value added tax.

  1. Sowell's contempt for the intellectual left drives him to support people and ideas simply because they irritate people he likes to see irritated. He probably thinks Sarah Palin is fantastic just because she has all the right enemies. It baffles me that so sharp an economist doesn't see the war machine for the scam that it is. Sowell loves to go on and on about the negative effects welfare has on minority communities, but give those minorities engineering degrees and he has no problem with the state showering them with money so long as they tinker with machines that might be useful for killing people to help frightened little Tommy sleep through the night.

    What a tool.

    1. i wouldn't call Sowell a tool, its the culture he grew up in. Victory Culture. you leave my father in law alone with Fox news for 10 minutes and his ears are pricked for the latest news about how the US military is smashing foes all round the world.

    2. More like loser culture. What victory are you referring to? It's is violent self-idolatry masquerading as serious-minded security. Sowell and your father in law don't care how many brown children are incinerated so long as the flag is waving, the anthem is playing and they feel the sweet tickle of smoke blown where they like it.

  2. Disappointing, yes. Surprising, no.

Conservatives like Sowell fail to realize (or at least admit) that the military - industrial complex of war profiteers makes fiscal conservatism impossible.

  3. "But we can only make our choices among those actually available" This is the problem that needs fixing.
