Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that Turkey’s decision to shoot down a Russian warplane near Turkey's border with Syria is a "stab in the back" and it would have “significant consequences” for its relations with Turkey.
Syrian rebels are telling the press that they shot and killed a Russian pilot who ejected from a jet.
Other reports suggest that both pilots were killed by rebels. Videos online purport to show rebels gathered around the body of one of the pilots, yelling "allahu akbar!"
