15 Major Silicon Valley Investors Rebuffed Rand Paul

In a long story on super PACs, NYT has this inside scoop on  a major Rand Paul attempt to raise money in Silicon Valley:
Mr. Paul sought donations for America’s Liberty PAC from about 15 tech investors but was rebuffed, said Scott Banister, who hosted the meeting at a San Francisco restaurant.

“I’m not convinced that TV ads are really as effective as they were,” said Mr. Banister, an early investor in PayPal, adding that interactive communication with voters mattered more. “Grass roots is just kind of old-school interactive,” he said.
Of course, the SV investors rebuffing Rand becasue they don't want to run television ads is just a cover story. Major players donate money because they want access and don't really care where the money goes.

Does anyone seriously think that those giving money to Hillary's charitable foundations really care how the money is spent?

Further, given that these are Silicon Valley guys wouldn't they offer to help in  " interactive communication" if they thought that was the way to go and actually believed in Rand?
