This is How You Provide Cover for the Evil NSA

From The Hill 3 days ago:
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a top critic of the National Security Agency, said Sunday that if he were elected to the Oval Office he would not eliminate the agency but refocus its bulk collection of phone records..."I want to spend more time on people we have suspicion of and we have probably cause of, and less time on innocent Americans. It distracts us from the job of getting terrorists," Paul said on NBC.
Oh puhleeze, What terrorists?  Hyped up guys becasue of US foreign interventions.

Edward Snowden has made the very important point that it is not that the surveillance state is spying on us all now, but that it is a turnkey operation that can be used against  at anytime. At some future point, it is entirely possible that libertarians, specifically, may be labeled terrorists.

Rand's function is to muddy the dangers of the state, in this case the surveillance state. The NSA is an extremely dangerous tool of the government, it does not need to be refocused, It needs to be shutdown.

Rand's filibuster is nothing more than a publicity, money raising, stunt. If the powers really thought that Rand was a threat to their power, instead of a tool to confuse libertraian lightweights, they would have given him the Harry Reid treatment a long time ago.

  1. On top of things as usual Bob, its sickening to see all the #standwithRand hashtags all around despite the evidence that you and others have provided showing that Rand has no desire in ending the police state.
