Daily Beast Editor to Rand Paul: 'F--- You'

A senior editor for The Daily Beast tweeted "fuck you" at Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday after Rand announced that he would be getting a measles vaccination.

"Today I am getting my booster vaccine. Wonder how the liberal media will misreport this," Paul wrote on Twitter.

"Fuck you," Justin Miller, the senior editor, wrote back, reports POLITICO.

Miller, who deleted the tweet shortly after posting it, apologized for the offending remark in a statement to POLITICO late Tuesday night.

"I replied from my personal account to what I felt was spin after Senator Paul said factually incorrect things about vaccines," Miller wrote. "It would've been better to respond with facts than an obscenity, and I deleted the tweet so it wouldn't reflect on the Beast. I'm sorry for the insult."

Rand's announcement about his vaccination came after he drew criticism for linking vaccines to mental disorders.

Rand went into full scientific methodology mode in an  attempt to distance himself from his earlier comments.

“I did not say vaccines caused disorders, just that they were temporally related — I did not allege causation,” he said.

So what has Rand actually said about vaccines that he now claims was just a comment about a temporal relation:
I have heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking normal children who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines,
To be sure, when something like this is stated in Rand world, you can stretch it to imply that he is only suggesting a temporal relation, but this is hardly an endorsement of vaccines, In fact, it is the opposite, it suggests at a minimum that more research needs to be done. So it is very easy to understand why Miller would react the way he did to this Rand tweet:

I hasten to add. this has nothing to do with how you stand on the vaccination question. This is about Rand muddying up his views on an issue, once again, once he gets negative feedback.

  1. Maybe we'll get lucky and he will come down with dementia while in office that can then be attributed to the contents of the booster.
