The attitude of rebellion as exemplified by this mother against the authoritarian state is very important, indeed heroic, but at the same time, we must think about workarounds on a personal level.

Fantastic! Praise God for this courageous woman. Where are the men in this country who should be standing up for the children? I go to the store and see little 4- and 5-year-olds masked and it makes me sick! The ones responsible for these mandates will have a special place in hell if they don't repent.

DeleteThat mother indeed made a powerful plea, and was courageous to do so in one sense, but there is also something pathetic about begging someone else to make a decision for your own child's welfare. "We elected you to look after our kids' best interests" is really an awful thing to believe.

ReplyDeleteExcept as I have argued with my local school tyranny, the CDC did not mandate masks. The CDC recommended masks, for as young as two years old. Your local health and social services departments made it a mandate. Ask your local tyrants to provide the science that shows mandating masks for children as young as age , provides a community benefit.
Side note 1: the CDC should be abolished.
Side note 2: Now before the judgy libertarians say muh homeschool, my daughter loves her school and friends, hates masks, and chose to continue school, which was better emotionally for her than yanking her out.
Real world has so many more considerations than theory.
DeleteA theory, to be correct, has to be born of the "real world," and take in all the considerations of the "real world," or else it is a mistaken idea. Understanding (theory) has to be aligned with reality (the real world) - the two are not in any kind of opposition.
DeleteMaybe you're simply trying to point out that, when it comes to complex situations, one needs to be practical. The best, and only, way to do that is through knowledge - that is: theory.
Yes, the real world has so many more considerations than airy ivory tower theories. Such kind of theories are abundant in the modern world in all fields - certainly in economics, as RW so often lays out here and in his EPJ.
