More Wokeness From United Airlines

United Airlines Chief Executive Scott Kirby can't stop with the politically correct posing. It turns out he is also "sustainability" woke.

The airline has just announced it has partnered with global firms including Nike Inc and Siemens AG in an “Eco-Skies Alliance” to finance and use this year about 3.4 million gallons of low-carbon, sustainable aviation fuel derived from trash, reports Reuters.

United said the project gives customers a way to help reduce "he environmental impact" of flying beyond buying carbon offsets and could help create more of a market for sustainable aviation fuels.

“We’ll see how it develops,” Kirby told reporters. “I think there’s a huge appetite for it.”

It should be noted that the program is tiny compared with the 4.3 billion gallons of jet fuel that United consumed in 2019 prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and suggests it is more of a PR stunt than anything else.

Further, the airline did not disclose the cost of the nutty "fighting climate change" plan which suggests it is really expensive.

  1. I would imagine that producing aviation fuel from garbage is quite expensive. Variable feedstocks are the bane of any chemical process, and garbage would appear to be the epitome of variability.

  2. May they go bankrupt. Eventually investors will learn to shun woke companies.

  3. Any truth to the rumor that they'll soon be converting all their jets to wind and solar power?
