These tech companies are so absolutely terrified of the Democrat's making an attempt to regulate after Biden is inaugurated. So they will ban Trump and alternative forms of social media to mitigate "extremism" on these platforms. Their attempts to mollify the Democrats will be an utter failure, as they will move to regulate them regardless. Perhaps it might serve as a good lesson that servility to the State will only end with them in control.
Aren’t many of these “tech guys” going to be in Biden’s cabinet? I think they have more sinister ideas besides just survival. They helped the democrats win. With Covid, and the presidency. They want power.
No this doesn't ring of crony partnerships. You have to remember that this all started with Trump's ascendancy to the White House. Despite the full force of the Democratic party, the mainstream press, and even establishment Republicans Trump won the presidency. Democrats ever the victims decided it wasn't their message or candidate that was the problem, but a sinister force operating on platforms that they had no control over. It was Russian disinformation on social media sites that led whole swaths of people to favor Trump. It was the Democrat's that went with the phony Russian collusion narrative for over three years until it completely fell apart and the only thing Mueller could find was Trump essentially acting inappropriately. But Democrats never wanting to let a narrative go became increasingly critical and overbearing on the tech companies. The reason this doesn't look like collusion is that people like Senator Ed Markey are demanding that these sites take more action to censor ideas he doesn't like, not to mention others like Senator Warren who wants a commission to oversee the "fairness" of the information that trends on sites like Twitter. Im not saying these companies aren't doing damage by their actions, but it is being fomented by leftists in the government. Not to mention the double standard that exists for right wing sources v.s. left wing ones. Im not surprised some in the tech community are trying to get in the Biden administration. With them in the government cross hairs I cant blame them trying everything they can to influence Congress not to put in oversight committees to monitor the content on their sites. However bad Dorsey or Zuckerberg act it would be a lot worse with Warren deciding what is permissible content. This is what is so pernicious about the state. Once it grasps you in its tentacles you have no real options, but to submit or manipulate legislation in your favor. Perhaps Biden will be too busy with other legislation like stimulus, infrastructure, and a public option (shudders) to pay them much mind. If Democrat's overreach which they will most certainly do it will create quite a backlash and their 9 seat majority in the House could evaporate. The Senate is a little trickier as 2022 doesn't favor Republicans but anything is possible. If the government becomes gridlocked in 2023 then big tech will probably mitigate a lot of the actions they are currently taking, but its gonna be a rough 2 years.
Devil’s advocate here. Let’s say you’re wrong and they are in fact not scared but rarher feeling their oats with their new and improved access. Do they stop once they are safe from regulation? Who benefits from the loss of alternative platforms? Seems safer to assume the worst and plan that way. If they end up iust being scared and not the evil they appear to be, all the better.
I agree with some of your comments about democrat overreach. But if you think big tech "will probably mitigate a lot of the actions they are currently taking" you haven't looked closely enough at history. When did political instigators ever mitigate anything? From the income tax to the federal reserve act to social security to Medicare to Medicaid to Obomacare to TSA to the Patriot Act just to name a few. There will be no mitigation. Only layer upon layer of tyrannical rules and behavior. Until enough individuals in the public recognize the ultimate inconvenient truth that all men would be tyrants if they could (including you and me) and so no one or group should ever be allowed the power to be tyrants, individual liberty will not exist.
Yes there is, of sorts. My son in law is taking older Samsung’s, and wiping all the google/android operating system from them and replacing it with a new, untraceable operating system. The phone still makes calls and everything normal, and all your regular apps still work. So it’s up to you to protect yourself from those, but the phones operating system can’t spy on you anymore, cause it’s gone. He also build rf detectors and used one to test the phones system. Instead of constantly sending info to whoever, the phone is quiet until you use it. The battery lasts 5 days, which tells you that regular phones transmit data on you 24/7. Family is getting the first few, so we can try them out. But it’s legit. They won’t be contact tracing or spying on us.
I would love to send my old functional samsung phones as well! This sounds like great enterprise but expect that the competition will come at him with everything.

DeleteBuild your own social media site...LOL
ReplyDeleteSo Android and Apple are no good. What alternative is there. I'm not into computers, but is there a linux platform for smart phones?
