Well, this is a fine Happy New Year from the Council on Foreign Relations.
This establishment elitist organization has just put out a New Year's Council of Councils memo.
The COC, created by the CFR, includes membership from establishment insider institutions from twenty-four countries, roughly tracking the composition of the Group of Twenty.
This is the insider's insider group.
So what are they focusing on as we start 2021?
This caught my eye in the memo, it is written by Robert Yates, Director, Global Health Programme, Chatham House, United Kingdom:
If heads of government want to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis as great leaders, now is the time to launch more ambitious universal health coverage (UHC) reforms—ensuring that everyone receives all the health services they need without suffering financial hardship. Some may think this unrealistic in the current economic climate, but it is important to recognize that many of the world’s great universal health systems emerged from crises, including those in France, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. Some leaders, such as those in Cyprus, Ireland, and South Africa, have already signaled that they intend to fast-track bold UHC reforms in response to this crisis. They have recognized that UHC reforms can bring rapid health, economic, and societal benefits, as well as bring huge political benefits to the leaders who implement them.
Note well that when the discussion is between the insider controls, such as Yated, and their political puppets, it is an appeal to ego. The reason to act in our interests is that "You will emerge a great leader."

Yates is correct. The fear mongering will enable increased state control over healthcare and this will "bring huge political benefits" as well as "societal benefits." But the benefits will only go to a few selected members of the society. Until the public recognizes this nothing will change. I continue my small effort with letters and calls to businesses and chambers of commerce. I also recently mailed letters to various resorts I have enjoyed in the past. I pointed out that by blindly following government edicts which violate human rights and are counterproductive to health, they are creating an atmosphere of fear and loathing rather one of relaxation and renewal. Some have engaged in a productive conversation. But this is what it will take. Returning to sanity slowly and one person at a time.
ReplyDeleteArrogant fools call themselves Council of Councils?
ReplyDelete1 God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2 "How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
3 Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."
5 They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 I said, "You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;
7 nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince."
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations! - Psalms 82
