What You Need to Know About the Polling Organization That Has Trump Ahead in the Presidential Race

The Democracy Institute is a politically independent public policy research organization based in Washington D.C. and London.

It is publishing a weekly snapshot of the U.S. presidential race.

The latest survey published last week put President Trump three points ahead overall at 48 points to 45, but seven points ahead in key swing states on 49 to 42.

So who are these guys?

They are the only polling organization to accurately predict the outcome of the Brexit vote and also Donald Trump's 2016 victory.

According to the Sunday Express, the Republican campaign team has reached out to the Express and Democracy Institute to say their results in private polling are similar.

Patrick Basham, the Director of the Democracy Institute explains that he believes the difference between his results and other polls is what type of voter they are asking.

He said: “As the media polls move from using registered voters to only likely voters (as DI does), I expect the gap between the respective polls to close somewhat.”

Basham says that the DI has also been considering the so-called shy vote with many Trump supporters admitting they are reluctant to tell people how they plan to vote.
