The Great Lord Sumption: The Justification for the Lockdown is Incoherent

In the below interview with the BBC, Lord Sumption is specifically discussing the lockdown in England but what he says goes as well for the lockdowns in the United States.

The only quarrel I have with the otherwise brilliant commentary is when Sumption argues that those amongst the elderly who get infected and die "would have only lived a bit longer anyway."

I would argue that now that we know the parameters of the virus, those at high risk should self-isolate if they choose, so that the potential for them being exposed to the virus is minimal.
