AOC Tells Democratic Socialists to Gradually 'Layer Americans with Socialist Ideas Like They're in School'

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Lefties are very good at political strategy and knowing how to advance their goals and gain power.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demonstrated this during a video conference this past week.

According to Fox News, she told a group of Democratic Socialists of America that they should try to persuade Americans as if they were in "school" -- gradually conveying ideas so that they will eventually be ready for large-scale, structural changes to society.

Democratic socialists, she said during the video event, should help Americans "develop the lenses of analysis necessary" to understand power and capital in the United States.

"We are able to use the lenses to elevate the general consciousness, then what we do every time we add a small layer," she said.

Continuing, she said: "It's kind of like when you go to class, or when you go to school, there are folks that are going to yell and say, 'Why don't you go from 0 to 100 on 'The View' or what have you,' and it's because every time you go to school, you don't go to class once and then graduate with a degree -- you go for many days at a time, slowly adding layers and layers upon layers, and we use public events, we use current events like what is just happening in developments of police brutality, in what is happening with our immigration system where people are being corralled and kept in our immigrant detention systems and our prisons, which are creating some of the largest COVID outbreaks in the country."

"We use all of these events to help contribute evidence to the analysis of power, which will help people realize how power is concentrated in the United States -- which gives us a better foundation to challenge it and then paint and begin to establish alternative structures for a better world," she said.

Of course, she has approaches power analysis in a very shallow way as though she were in early grade school but that is another story. To see how power analysis is done correctly, see: Wall Street, Banks, and American Foreign Policy by Murray Rothbard.

At present, the socialists are skillfully using the COVID-19 panic to promote all kinds of central planning schemes from universal income to centrally planned healthcare.

Now is not the time for those of us who appreciate freedom to lay back, we need to double-down and hit back hard and show the intellectual weaknesses of the socialist proposals and that socialism has much more to do with power than they understand.

It is not an accident that the great socialist societies in China and the Soviet Union ended up being run by tyrants.

  1. Other than the school and class analogies, her shallowness and her socialist goals I don't see a problem with these quotes. I would like to “structurally change society” also but in a very different direction than she would like. But we probably agree on police brutality and immigrant detention to a large degree. We probably even have a similar take on power in the US. Of course she mistakes cronyism for capitalism and thinks more centralized power is a solution rather than the problem but, if a freedom advocate could say these same words and not break ranks. I would just hope that freedom lover would speak more like an adult than an adolescent.
