Jordan Peterson's daughter, Mikhaila, reports in on the suffering that her father has been going through, including suicidal thoughts, as a result of taking benzodiazepine.
Apparently, no health clinics in the United States were able to successfully treat him, but he is now on the mend in Russia

Benzodiazepine addiction and specifically withdrawal is commonly and successfully treated in the US and Canada. There is no clinical reason demanding one leave North America for treatment, especially if you have the funds to privately pay. I have never seen benzo withdrawal result in suicidal ideation without some other comorbid condition.
ReplyDeleteHe specifically was treated with clonazepam which is a benzodiazepine.
DeleteFrom the side effects warnings:
"A small number of people who take anticonvulsants for any condition (such as seizures, bipolar disorder, pain) may experience depression, suicidal thoughts/attempts, or other mental/mood problems."

Yes, this is listed as a side effect. I maintain there need be a comorbid condition for this side effect to occur.
DeleteI work in substance treatment specifically. I have seen many cases of benzo addiction and withdrawal. They do not cause SI without some other condition present.
Job ain't got nuthin' on JBP!
ReplyDeleteGet well soon, Jordan!!!
