Sources in Baghdad are reporting both Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis were in a convoy struck by US military forces tonight.
This is extremely serious.
This is equivalent to taking out members of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Qasem Soleimani was an Iranian Major general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and since 1998 commander of its Quds Force—a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations.
Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was an Iraqi-Iranian military commander who heads the Popular Mobilisation Committee, which is active against ISIS.
Holy hell could break loose. Trump has gone on full tilt attack.
Iran will respond violently.

UPDATE
UPDATE 2My latest alongside @JimLaPorta UPDATE: @Newsweek can confirm that, along with the Popular Mobilization Forces' Mohammed Redha al-Jabari and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Iran Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani was also killed in Baghdad, per U.S. official. https://t.co/yXesTROfIO pic.twitter.com/46BLDgHWE9— 𝕋om 𝕆'ℂonnor (@ShaolinTom) January 3, 2020
UPDATE 3This is where #Iran's IRGC Qods forces' commander Qassem Soleimani and #PMF leader Abu Mahdi Mohandis were assassinated by #US forces in #Baghdad airport #Iraq— Nafiseh Kohnavard (@nafisehkBBC) January 3, 2020
This is the beginning of the end...

UPDTATE 4If the reports about Soleimani are true (and it's still an if at the moment), I want everyone to imagine a scenario where it's during the Iraq War, and Iran decides to drop a missile right on David Petraeus.— Séamus Malekafzali (@Seamus_Malek) January 3, 2020
That's the scale of the possibility currently being discussed.
This is off the charts.
Now, this report:
Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq leader Qais Khazali & Badr Brigade's Hadi Ameri have been arrested by US Marines in Baghdad tonight.
UPDATE 5
You have to understand what Qassim Soleimani means for millions of Shia. They see him as a hero who defeated al Nusra, al Qaeda and ISIS in Iraq and Syria. His death will be avenged.— Medea Benjamin (@medeabenjamin) January 3, 2020
Update 6There will be massive demonstrations in Iran and in the Shia world for the death of Qassim Suleimani, and calls for retaliation. I am so furious with Trump, who is responsible for ALL OF THIS by pulling out of the Iran nuclear deal.— Medea Benjamin (@medeabenjamin) January 3, 2020
7. Watch this clip of Soleimani speaking to understand what his rhetoric is like. He was/is a hardliners hardliner. pic.twitter.com/THomIQqkJ0— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) January 3, 2020
UPDATE 712. But killing Soleimani is not like killing the head of a terrorist org. It's like killing the head of a terrorist organization and a head of state. You have to treat it as such and the US has not DIRECTLY engaged in assassinations on that level in decades.— Yashar Ali 🐘 (@yashar) January 3, 2020
Confirmed: Trump is a mad man. This is what he has tweeted on the heels of the assassinations:
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 3, 2020This is putting a target on every American by meddling and provoking in a part of the world that the U.S. should have no interest in.
Who knows what the response is going to be? Iran could launch a severe retaliation. The entire Shia world could explode. Lone actors here in the U.S. could be triggered to attack malls, airports etc.
Trump for no good reason has triggered who knows how many among the 200 million Shia Muslims or the greater 1.8 billion Muslims.
UPDATE 8
Defense Department confirms the assassination of Qassim Soleimani on orders of President Trump:
At the direction of the President, the US military has taken decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad by killing Qasem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist OrganizationUPDATE
From a statement by National Iranian American Council President Jamal Abdi:
The last thing the world needs is yet another disastrous American military adventure in the Middle East. The assassination of IRGC Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani is a profoundly reckless move that will be viewed as an act of war in Tehran. The most aggressive hardline elements inside Iran have just been given a massive opening to consolidate influence internally and respond violently externally.
Wow, sure glad they didn't elect that warmonger Hillary!
ReplyDeleteI'm buyin' a Canadian flag for my (new) boat.
Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking.
ReplyDeleteWell, 2019 felt like the doldrums. Time to goose the MSM news cycle...
ReplyDeleteThe NeoCons must be screaming in delight. They may get their war after all.
ReplyDeleteHuh, I thought boobus americanus was sick of war? I now see them jumping for joy with the prospect of another one.
ReplyDeleteThis certainly takes impeachment and the OPCW scandal off the front pages. Well done, Bill Clinton II.
ReplyDeleteYou don't just take the Baghdad airport home after you spent time in Iraq fucking with the US embassy. This guy thought he could just casually walk around Iraq, run his mouth and not get droned?? Must have been used to Obama's red lines.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably the most gangster move the US has done in my lifetime. Now that they know hes not fucking around, maybe they calm down.
Yeah, maybe....
DeleteIf only there was an over-arching, controlling document that delineated the limitations on power of the Federal government, particularly its ability to make war...
