Mark Zuckerberg was in the White House on Thursday.
Since there are reports that President Trump wants to use social media to "detect" those who should not be allowed to own guns, this meeting is downright scary.
From Vice in early August:
While delivering a speech on the recent [gun] violence, Trump said “we must do a better job of identifying and acting on early warning signs,” and he suggested social media companies could develop new ways of catching “red flags.”
“I am directing the Department of Justice to work in partnership with local state and federal agencies, as well as social media companies, to develop tools that can detect mass shooters before they strike...”

“…as well as social media companies” More accurately, including social media companies. Social media companies are agencies of the government. Yes, we all know that they are private companies. But social media companies are the least private of the cronies. If not directly started by the likes of DARPA they were financed early on by those with ties to government surveillance and control.
ReplyDeleteIf these entities really care about detecting mass shooters they already would have developed and put in use tools designed to detect them. I would guess the tools they have now are designed to track gun advocates that have anti-government leanings. This statement will allow them to be more open about tracking under the guise of detecting mass shooters.
A dictator will always think like a dictator.
