San Francisco Declares NRA 'Domestic Terrorist Organization'

So much for free speech and the ability to freely advocate positions.

The NRA has just been branded a "domestic terrorist organization" by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

Passed on Tuesday, the resolution "Declaring the National Rifle Association as a Domestic Terrorist Organization" rattles off a series of leftist anti-gun talking points, such as:
  • WHEREAS, The United States is plagued by an epidemic of gun violence, including over 36,000 deaths, and 100,000 injuries each year, and
  • WHEREAS, Every day approximately 100 Americans are killed with guns, and
  • WHEREAS, There has been more than one mass shooting per day in the United States in 2019, and
  • WHEREAS, The gun homicide rate in the United States is 25 times higher than any other high-income country in the world

The resolution then blames the NRA for using 'its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence," and accuses the organization of spreading "propaganda that misinforms and aims to decieve the public about the dangers of gun violence" while promoing "extremist positions."
The kicker - San Francisco says that the NRA "through its advocacy has armed those individuals who would and have committed acts of terrorism."
Nowhere mentioned are self-defense statistics, suicide statistics, or that gang members - who commit the majority of gun-related murders (mostly with handguns) - probably aren't members of the NRA. But why let facts get in the way of a good virtue signaling?
The resolution calls for:
That the City and County of San Francisco intends to declare the National Rifle Association a domestic terrorist organization; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City and County of San Francisco should take every reasonable step to assess the financial and contractual relationships our vendors and contractors have with this domestic terrorist organization; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City and County of San Francisco should take every reasonable step to limit those entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City and County of San Francisco should encourage all other jurisdictions, including other cities, states, and the federal government, to adopt similar positions
The NRA hit back - saying in a statement "This ludicrous stunt by the Board of Supervisors is an effort to distract from the real problems facing San Francisco, such as rampant homelessness, drug abuse and skyrocketing petty crime, to name a few," adding "The NRA will continue working to protect the constitutional rights of all freedom-loving Americans."

  1. To highlight this absurdity, let’s change guns, gun violence, gun homicide, and mass shootings with automobile accidents, car accidents, and automobiles.

WHEREAS, The United States is plagued by an epidemic of deaths caused by automobile accidents, including over 40,000 deaths and over 100,000 injuries each year, and

WHEREAS, Every day approximately 110 Americans are killed in car accidents, and

WHEREAS, There was more than one major car accident per day in the United States in 2018, and

WHEREAS, The rate at which people are killed in car accidents in the United States is several times higher than any other high-income country in the world,

WE RESOLVE to ban all automobiles now and forever more.

  3. i like in san francisco, who are these people? how are they elected. Fucking seriously, they need to do something about the rampant mental illness problem, drug addicted homeless, and crime. I have to walk two blocks to work and there are at least 10 on sutter street alone, between grant and taylor street. Two are on both corners of powell street. You cant go anywhere without someone asking for money. No one starves in san francisco because you can eat for free at glide and st. anthony, so you know they spend the money on drugs. The police don't do anything

    1. How they get elected... well, SF political establishment took to heart Stalin's dictum that it doesn't matter who and how votes, all what matters is who's counting the votes. Has been this way since at least Jim Jones.

  4. This pretty funny coming from a city that keep the crap off the street. But it is a microcosm of the state government in Sacramento that has no sense either.

I visited SF in 2007 for a few days. It was interesting, but not a place I would want to live even if I had money.
