Tulsi Gabbard UPDATE |
Tulsi Gabbard reports that following her debate performance in Detroit on Wednesday she has had the best fundraising day of the entire campaign… and brought in more than 12,000 donors in under 24 hours, meaning she is now just 2,300 unique donations away from the debate-qualifying goal of 130,000 unique donors.
Candidates need to have 130,000 unique donors and register at least 2 percent support in four polls. They have until Aug. 28 to reach these benchmarks.
At this point, Gabbard has mostly been polling around 1%. Only one poll put her at 2%. It will be very tough to get three more poll readings at 2% or above in the next four weeks, even with her attack against Kamala Harris.
Remember, Chris Christie, with his attack on Marco Rubio, essentially took Rubio out of the 2016 Republican presidential campaign but it didn't help Christie. He followed Rubio to the sidelines just weeks later.
Attacks energize your base but to add new followers you need to powerfully answer the voter question: What can you do for me? And Tulsi hasn't done that yet.
Only seven candidates have already met both qualification thresholds and are guaranteed spot on stage. They are:
- Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
- Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey
- Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Ind.
- Senator Kamala Harris of California
- Former Representative Beto O’Rourke of Texas
- Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont
- Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts
UPDATE:
Tulsi Gabbard’s campaign for President has passed one of the thresholds required to be in the September Democratic presidential debates.
The campaign announced that it has now surpassed the threshold of 130,000 unique donors, with over 400 donors in at least 20 states, required to participate in the Democratic debates.
I parlayed a $50 contribution to Tulsi with an "under 9" bet on the Reds/Braves game. Looks suspect as I write.
