The purge by major social media platforms of politically incorrect speech continues.
Facebook has just announced it has permanently banned Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, Infowars host Alex Jones, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson, Laura Loomer, among others, for being “dangerous.”
The bans apply to Facebook and Facebook subsidiary Instagram.
“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today,” Facebook said in a statement.

Snoop Dogg reacts:
"Facebook and Instagram banned Minister Louis Farrakhan. I want to know for what," Snoop said. "All he ever do is tell the truth. But y'all gon' ban him, though? Alright, what if we ban y'all? What if we stop fuckin' with y'all?" He continued. "The fuck y'alll gon' ban Minister Louis Farrakhan? For puttin' truth out there."
"I stand with him. Ban me, mothafucka. Ban me. Because I'm gon' keep posting his shit, I'mma keep putting Minister Louis Farrakhan out there," he said.
According to HNHH:
Farrakhan's been a strong supporter of the hip-hop community for years, helping rappers during times of need. Snoop pledged his loyalty to Farrakhan before apologizing to the Minister for his language. Will we see a Snoop Dogg-Infowars alliance?
Will facebook ban the the overtly violent Antifa, aka Antiface, aka Antifactual? I doubt it.

The question is what kind of organization is Facebook? Does it have the right to choose who may use it?
ReplyDeleteYes it does, but that's only the libertarian question. The broader and more interesting questions are whether it is choosing to be an open forum or a censored forum, whether it is bending to and/or sharing data with the state, and how its users and advertisers will react?
