House Speaker Nancy Pelosi |
I write:
AOC is using a slick Leninist type ploy here, use a "crisis" in one area to advance a major wholesale change in society.Illinois Rep. John Shimkus, the top Republican on the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on climate change and other environmental issues, gets it. In a statement, he writes:
We should be open to the fact that wealth transfer schemes suggested in the radical policies like the Green New Deal may not be the best path to community prosperity and preparedness. And I am happy to see House Speaker Nancy Pelosi throw shade at the proposal:
Pelosi downplayed Ocasio-Cortez’s plan and even poked fun at the idea. “It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,” the California Democrat told reporters Wednesday. “The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?”Pelosi is, of course, a powerful short-term tool here, a roadblock. Longer-term, the problem is that AOC's mad proposals are polling well amongst the masses and other politicians recognize this.

"The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it, right?” busted my irony meter with that one
ReplyDeleteI prefer the Groucho Marx rule: "what ever it is I'm against it".
DeleteStrategic error. Let them pass it. Better yet, goad them into doubling down. Make AOC a field marshal and turn her loose. It will be hikarious.
ReplyDeleteSome lessons can only be learned through experience. Give the people what they want. Give it to them good and hard.
The path we're on, Trump and Capitalism will be blamed for the big crash. Hand AOC the reigns and let her own the result.
Most joke about that last line and the truth is we would be living hard over night like Maduro has his serfs now
DeleteWell...based on Pelosi logic. We need to pass the Green New Deal in order to know what's in it.....right? HA!
