Pelosi Twists the Knife

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Trump is in way over his comb over head.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is still not going to invite Trump to deliver the State of the Union speech this week.

Hot Air writes:
She’s twisting the knife now. I figured 95 percent of the reason he threw in the towel...was because he thought doing so would at least get him back in front of the camera for his big speech...
Even Bill Kristol thought Trump was going to get to deliver the SOTU:

He is getting severely outplayed.

Hot Air notes:
Trump’s base will hate it — which is potentially useful to her. Righties are already (temporarily) mad at him for giving in and re-opening the government; Pelosi rubbing salt in the wound by extending the SOTU snub will make them that much madder and eager to goad him into shutting down the government again in three weeks. Maybe it’ll work. If he gets blasted loudly enough and for long enough by Coulterites he might have another change of heart and lunge for Shutdown 2.0 to show his resolve. If that happens it’ll only set him up for another painful cave a few weeks later, with moderates initially annoyed that we’re doing a shutdown again and populists ultimately annoyed that he gave up without winning on the wall. As far as Pelosi’s concerned, I assume, Trump can shut down the government for as long as he wants, as many times as he wants. In the end he, and by extension the GOP, is the one who suffers politically the most.

  1. He already signaled he is going to declare national emergency and have the Army Corps of Engineers build the wall. He is giving them 3 weeks. There will not be another shutdown. He is letting them gloat now knowing that he holds the ace card - along with declassification if need be. This has many rounds left to go.

    1. he can't declare a national emergency. totally unconstitutional and the Democrats will run over to 1st st to confirm that the sotu speech could just be delivered on TV after having the script delivered to the house.
the last couple of years show that trump will talk big but doesn't go outside the norms of DC routine

    2. "he can't declare a national emergency. totally unconstitutional..."

Because when I think of the word "constitutional," "Trump" is one of the next words that comes to mind.
