Apple Is Removing Alex Jones And Infowars' Podcasts From iTunes

The remarkable assault on Alex Jones and Infowars continues.

Apple has removed the entire library for five of Infowars' six podcasts from its iTunes and Podcast apps, BuzzFeed News reports. Among the podcasts, which were removed from Apples' iTunes directory, are the show "War Room" as well as the popular Alex Jones Show podcast.

In a statement Sunday evening to BuzzFeed News, Apple confirmed that it notified Jones of the decision to remove the five shows under its hate speech guidelines earlier this weekend. "Apple does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users," a company spokesperson said. "Podcasts that violate these guidelines are removed from our directory making them no longer searchable or available for download or streaming. We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions.”

Apple as a private company that can certainly do whatever it chooses but as the operator of a general platform one can be outraged by its actions. First, they came for Alex Jones.

Separately, a Spotify spokesperson confirmed on Monday morning that the company has also removed all episodes of The Alex Jones Show, after it removed some selected episodes last week.

These removals follow enforcement actions by Facebook and YouTube.

  1. It's a good opportunity for alternative streaming services to jump in and capture that market--IF IT EXISTS.

  2. To punish for "hate speech" and never, ever offer any evidence is remarkable dishonesty. I hope that these platforms are brought down by the market fairly soon. Meanwhile, it is time for new and honest platforms to begin to compete. This may be a good thing in the long run. Alex Jones should not be depending on those who despise him.

  3. This started with the Daily Stormer: a completely legal web site that was banned from the internet (although they keep resurfacing under different HLDs). No one spoke up about that. There was no pushback from anyone. So the PTB have decided that they can keep going. As time goes on more and more moderately right wing accounts, blogs and websites will be "disappeared". Possibly even this one.
