The Greatest Killers

By Robert Wenzel

Last week, horrific shootings took place at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in  Parkland Florida. Seventeen are dead.

Yet, the killer, Nikolas Cruz, compares not at all to the greatest killers on the planet, government men.

In his important book, Death by Government: Genocide and Mass Murder Since 1900,  R.J. Rummel reported on the hundreds of millions killed by government during the first three-quarters of the  20th century.

And yet, without irony, mainstream media reported on the President of the largest government on the planet, a government that has dropped two atomic bombs, and his "listening" meeting with survivors of  the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shootings.

As if Trump, who plans to expand the rules of engagement for nuclear weapons, is a person to look to for solutions to terrible killings.

In the horror of what took place in Parkland, Florida, it is not difficult to understand how parents of those killed and surviving students could get their logic wires and emotions wires crossed.

However, banning of various guns in the United States, which were advocated by many at the White House gathering, is not the solution. There are various other solutions.

There are a lot of mistakes in the U.S. Constitution but the second amendment is not one of them.

The Founding Fathers knew exactly what they were doing when they added that amendment. It was a counter to the potential for government to get out of control. The right to bear arms was not about
giving citizens the right to hunt. It was about having dispersed weaponry throughout the land as a last ditch protection against evil and totalitarian government.

Naturally, the dumb socialist, Trump, understands none of this. He has called for the end to bump stocks and he has called for more mental tests before granting a person a permit to purchase a gun.

As for the mental tests, the big question is, of course, who will administer the tests? Under what guidlines? And how will the guidelines expand over time?

As for the banning of bump stocks, it is just one less dispersed weapon (accesory) of the type the Founding Fathers wanted us to have.

But what happens when a shooting takes place when a bump stock is not used? Cruz did not use a bump stock in Parkland. What will the wired-crossed people want banned next?

It is a slow creep to making the United States a kill zone where we have no last ditch protection against totalitarians, a protection the Founding Fathers wanted us to have.

It will make the country into a cowering place where we won't be able to fight back, if necessary, just like the kids of Parkland weren't able to fight back.

Gun control is about moving in the direction of making the United Staes a great kill zone so that we have absolutely no protection against the greatest killer that history shows us exists, government. This, above all else, needs to be understood in the current discussion.

  1. Custer was defeated, inter alai, by civilian weapons. So, it is not true that the 2nd Amendment was always believed to mean hunting muskets.

  2. I was/am a dealer for bump stocks, they are pretty fun. I say was because I haven’t taken the effort to sell any lately. Anyone who shoots a ar-15, sks, or AK style semi automatic much can “bump fire” any semi auto pretty easily with a little practice. No bump stock needed. I can dump a 100 round magazine pretty quick without the use of a bump stock or trigger. Just takes practice. The down side, it cost a lot for the short thrill.
I’m wondering what the prez will do with the thousands of stocks already owned by people?
And not just the stocks, you can get bump fire triggers now that look no different than normal triggers. A good Geissele trigger (highly recommend) hiperfire or GLS will let you shoot almost as fast as full auto, with just a little practice also.
Or just read a little and learn how to make your stock mil spec trigger better. Is Trump going to ban all these? The cats out of the bag, and it’s not-going back in.
Shove it Donald. You pathetic jackass.
Fairbanks is the most well armed (and I would say heavily armed) town in the US. We don’t care much about fed edicts, and we certainly despise gun laws. This crap makes my blood boil.
But no matter how fast you shoot, it’s better to be able to hit what you are shooting.
    “Aim small, miss small”.
    Good article Robert.

  3. We should all own "Death By Government", a powerful tool against the Pelosi's and Schumer's. Arm yourselves for the intellectual battle. But sadly, the truth is, 97% of men are moral and intellectual cowards. Perhaps the hardest lesson I had to learn in life. Nothing as even caused me to doubt that sad finding.
