Fear is not a liar, it is a messenger. It is telling you that what you have to little information to know if what you are perceiving is a threat to you or that you do have enough information to know that it is a threat. Either way it requires caution. Just confronting your fears will not help you. This simplistic advice seems a hallmark of Prof. Peterson's internet lectures. A simplicity that may explain his apparent growing popularity.
He has a number of good things to say on some topics but his 'advice' on things like social fear and social anxiety leaves a lot to be desired IMO. He really doesn't understand it beyond the simplistic conventional nonsense.
