It Really Makes No Sense for Libertarians to Align with Trump

He is bad news.
Trump may be good on the transgender issue but the above is what he is stirring up in the Neanderthals among us. This is what is going to push the youth left if they view Trump as the only alternative.

  1. It's a full time job, especially in those tiny brains, to hate that much.

  2. Trump's an ass, but posts like this are bizarre. You quickly devolved into the same kinds of arguments and tactics used against Ron Paul, Murray Rothbard, and Lew Rockwell in both Ron Paul's Republican presidential campaigns. There are plenty of great arguments to be made against Trump without resorting to the collectivist-style "a few jackasses represent the masses" arguments.

    1. Re: Unknown,

Seriously doubt that Ron Paul ever referred to white supremacist wackos as "fine people", nor do I remember Dr. Paul ─a true gentleman─ refer to immigrants as "shithole"-dwellers or rapists.

    2. And none of that was in this post. Nice nonsequiteur.

    3. Hi Francisco, I agree with your statement! Ron Paul, based on my history of reading his writings and seeing his speeches, has never taken such a stance. I may have missed a few over the years, but he has always been a respectful statesman and gentleman.

Sorely missed in todays buffoonery that is Washington!

    4. Re: Unknown,

The point is that neither Paul nor Rothbard, not even Lew, ever encouraged white supremacists to come out from whatever rock they were hiding under.

  3. I dislike Trump as much as you do (but I'm ecstatic that The Wicked Witch lost), but this video is left wing propaganda.

"Murders by white supremacists doubled in 2017."

In 2016 there were 9, count 'em, 9, murders "linked" to white supremacists. In 2017 there were 18 murders "linked" to the alt-right.

In 2017 there were 17,259 murders in the US. 18 out of 17,259. Anyone care to do the math on what percentage of murders were "linked" to the alt-right?

A video of two idiots swearing at each other doesn't prove anything except that there were two idiots swearing at each other.

    1. I tend to agree with this. I despise Trump and I don't doubt that the Alt-Right has incited violence against Muslims and immigrants, but I wouldn't trust a video like this to accurately portray the statistics.

It fits far too conveniently into the left wing narrative that profits handsomely by hysterically inflating the supposed rise of white supremacy.

The rhetoric of the alt-right in regards to Muslims and immigrants is toxic and even if you are a closed-borders libertarian you shouldn't be supporting Trump's tactics.

I think Bob's point stands, however. We do ourselves no favors by giving the impression that our message and movement are aligned in some way with Trump and his supporters. We need to portray ourselves as a third way, an alternative to the socialist Left and the nativist, nationalist Right.

    2. Robert is just posting more anti Trump crap. The leftist hate groups with there social Justice crap is off the charts at universities. But one Trump supporting idiot is a label for all?
      Sad...

Disclaimer: I did not vote for any candidates in the last election. I do not support any political group or party at this time.

Even if true, they can't outdo blacks killing each other on a daily basis in many cities. Especially over a pair of shoes or 'diss'in' one another.

─ Anyone care to do the math on what percentage of murders were "linked" to the alt-right? ─

In the same manner you have leftists and the Media touting the supposed rise of white supremacist crimes, you have Trumpsistas and Stormfront-types touting the supposedly high crime rates of "illegulz who takum er jebz!", always quoting statistically-challenged conservatives who discover 'new' ways of counting people, or anti-immigrant outfits who find problems with immigrants the same way the SPLC labels "hate groups": by playing fast and loose with concepts.

  5. RW posts about a white man who swears at a woman but not about a Muslim who stabs Americans:

More American lives ruined because of chain migration.

  6. A bad-guy Trump supporter does something bad, a pox on all Trump supporters. A bad-guy illegal invader rapes a woman or kills someone drunk driving, just an anecdote. And by the way, a pox on Trump supporters for bringing it up in the first place.

Can't have it both ways, RW.

  7. "Trump may be good on the transgender issue" RW

    What, what, what!

That sounds dangerously close to aligning with Trump. Do you call yourself a libertarian? Really?!? Next you'll be saying that Trump is good on the intersectional issue, that his speeches criticizing PC might be noteworthy. You know what comes next after that? Libertarians for Trump! Yea, I said it! I always had a feeling that you were a crypto-Trumper. Now I know it!
