Walter Block To Relaunch 'Libertarians for Trump' If Oprah Runs Against Trump in 2020

I just finished recording my debate with Walter Block on the topic of Donald Trump.

During the debate, Dr. Block stated that if either Oprah or "Pocahontas" runs against Trump in the 2020 general election, he would relaunch "Libertarians for Trump."

The entire debate, hosted by Lions of Liberty will be posted online a week from Monday.

When it is up I will post it here at Target Liberty.

  1. I think we ought to start Libertarians for Oprah Winfrey. A complete disaster by virtually every measure of personal liberty and property rights, but: 1. We know exactly where we stand; 2. She occasionally trots out a genuine literary classic before her vapid cow-eyed audience; and 3. AT THIS POINT SHE HAS NOT ORDERED MURDER VIA DRONE BOMBING ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! Preferable to Trump, by a country mile.

    1. Prior to election 1 and 3 applied to Donald Trump. As for 2 should we choose a president by whether or not they ran a TV book club? Hey, Donald Trump promoted a book or two in his TV days as well.

  2. I'd have to hear the context in which Dr Block made those remarks. I can't see any rationale for thinking that Oprah or even Elizabeth Warren would be worse than Donald Trump has already proven to be.

Trump has already brought us to the brink of war with North Korea and seems intent on destroying the Iran nuclear deal which may lead to war against that country. This apart from ramping up all the Obama-era drone bombings and continued support for Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen.

If Oprah or Warren are even a few degrees more pro-peace than Trump, they'd probably be preferable.

    1. As infantile as Trump is, he's a more pro-liberty candidate than either Oprah or Warren. I really couldn't care less about him pissing off a thirld-world leader with a country full of Turpin children. He sucks, but at least he has a few pro-liberty beliefs which neither of those other two do. The other two unashamedly want a nanny govt.

    2. I don't think that libertarians need to have a stated preference for, or especially vote and actively endorse a "lesser of two evils" candidate when both choices are so bad.

I don't think we really know how Oprah would govern, but I think it's true that Warren would have to appeal to Bernie supporters and the far left, which would pressure her to be more anti-war than the hawks in both parties.

    3. Candidates Obama and Trump were both seen as potentially less aggressive on foreign interventions than their respective predecessor, but both failed (in Trump's case, have failed) to govern consistently with their campaign rhetoric. We don't have any reason to believe that what we hear in campaigning from anyone else, Oprah and Fauxcahontas included, will be a sign as to how they govern. The warfare state is very resilient.
