This Kid Needs to be Told About Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

The mother of Keaton Jones put the below video out and it has gone viral. It has been viewed over 20 million times.

To be sure, it is terrible to be bullied but I am not sure what the point of this video is. That you should be a crybaby if someone calls you a name? Will this kid go through life thinking he needs to cry everytime someone does something offensive?

Shouldn't the kid be taught that there are assholes in the world and they should be ignored or otherwise dealt with?

But where are the school administrators when this can go on? From The New York Times:
Keaton was going home early — not for the first time, Ms. Jones said — because he was afraid to have lunch at school. Classmates, he told his mother, had poured milk on him and stuffed ham in his clothes.
It has to be a public school. If we had private schools, administrators would never be able to get away with not monitoring cafeterias.

BTW: There is a twist to the story, Hollywood snowflakes have offered him all kinds of opportunities to visit them on movie sets etc. A Gofundme account has raised $45,000. I am not sure this stuff will do anything but encourage a response in the future to cry when something doesn't go his way but here is the big kicker: The mother is pro-Confederate flag, which means the snowflakes now are calling her a racist.

From Grapevine:
Before you parade your child on social media, sobbing about being bullied, and then have celebrities rally behind you, you might want to clean up your own racist social media posts. That’s exactly what Keaton Jones’ mother, Kimberly Jones, didn’t do—and now her past Facebook posts are coming back to bite her in her racist ass...internet detectives found Kimberly Jones’ Facebook page, they realized that she may be on the wrong side of history when it comes to her love of the Confederate flag.

  1. The kind of atmosphere that promotes bullying is one of the reasons home education is so popular. We don't want our children dealing with bullies until they are mature enough. Life is too short to put up with other peoples poorly raised offspring.

  3. Bullying serves the schools which is why it exists and why the schools' systems of punishment encourage it and will not diminish it.

"Shouldn't the kid be taught that there are assholes in the world and they should be ignored or otherwise dealt with?"

Ignoring them does not work and should never be taught. The result is that the bullies move on to physical actions that cannot be ignored.

The one thing that stops bullying is to fight back but the schools will tend to if not always punish the victim who defends himself and generally more severely than those doing the bullying. The only thing the victim can do is sit there and take it and even then he may still be punished. Even if a school punishes equally the target has far more to lose through the punishment than the bully.

If this kid so much as responded in kind, say dropping a banana peel on the head of one of the kids, he would face punishment. The initiators would not. That's by 1980s standards. I am sure it is far worse today.

  4. The State is the ultimate bully, as are all its subsidiary units, most especially the schools. So, asking the schools, themselves bullies, to police bullies, is absurd.

  5. It is not always necessary to use force against bullies. I was bullied occasionally as a kid, but needed to resort to force only once, when the only option at the moment was to place the back of my skull firmly into the teeth of the guy holding me from behind. I was able to use humor to deflect a good deal of bullying. I was also mature enough even in grammar school to recognize that bullies were damaged goods, and found that befriending them worked for both of us. When I heard of the recent story of the black man who befriended KKK members, I understood how he was able to do that. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/kkk-klu-klux-klan-members-leave-black-man-racism-friends-convince-persuade-chicago-daryl-davis-a7489596.html

  6. We don't know the whole story, but if he is telling the truth this is another reason why 'pubic' schools should be abolished. Too bad there is not a smaller school home schooling environment he could be moved to.

  7. Austro-AnCap is correct. And he also needs to take karate or judo lessons and learn how to handle himself by handling others according to their demerit.

    1. Krav Maga or JKD. Karate is barely useful and Judo is a sport.
