How the Left Conquered the Right

This is an excellent analysis by Paul Gottfried.

  1. This is an interesting talk on the "how" part. Another question to answer is "why?" My theory is that both the left and right are in it (gov't) solely for the plunder, rewarding friends and punishing enemies while privatizing profits and socializing losses. All done while wearing the phony mask of altruism. Neither gang cares one whit for the doctrinaire ideologists on either end of the spectrum.

    1. Agreed. Watching "The Crown" and reading Hoppe convinces me monarchy is slightly better. QEII wouldn't have gone to war over Suez, "her" PM did.

  2. Why the statists always win…..

On one side, we have the left libertarians who are libertarians (just ask them) except anytime the specter of “racism” rears its head, at which point all refusals to enter into contracts must be flyspecked by the powers that be and appropriate punishments meted out.

On the other side, we have the Israel-first Neocon clowns like Steve Crowder who has been orgasmic in response to Nimrod Haley’s Israel Uber Alles performance at the U.N. OUR NEXT PRESIDENT!!!

    We’re doomed.

  3. I've long believed that the GOP is the Party of No Ideas, and that the Democratic Party is the Party of Bad Ideas, which seems consistent with Gottfried's analysis.

I was quite interested to hear that he's a political determinist. I'd like to hear more about that. I have generally believed that culture drives politics, but he's suggesting it is the other way around.

  4. I have long believed:
    The Democratic party is insane.
    The Republicans party is liars.
    The Libertarian party is delusional.
