Trump Called the Saudi King in a Show of Support on the Day of Saudi Purge

President Trump with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia during a visit to Riyadh in May.
This really stinks and is really dangerous.

It appears that Trump is in bed with the reckless, ruthless Crown Prince Mohammed Salman, who appears to be behind the purge that occurred on Sunday that included the arrest of  Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, a major shareholder in Twitter, Apple and Citibank.

At least three senior White House officials, including the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, were reportedly in Saudi Arabia last month for meetings that were undisclosed at the time.

It makes no sense for the United States to mettle in the internal affairs of any country, but it is particularly dangerous to do so when it comes to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because of implications for stability in all of the Middle East.

The New York Times reports that Trump called the Saudi King yesterday, on the day of the purge,  to offer a wholehearted endorsement of a drive to modernize the kingdom" and "he praised the king’s favorite son and top adviser, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman."

Quite the duo, a reckless Crown Prince and a reckless President.
